On June 9, 2012, LMW Attorneys gathered with the community of New Port Richey, Florida to raise money for the Runaways Alternative Project (RAP) House at the fourth annual RAP River Run. The RAP House is a place where the youth of Pasco County can find shelter to escape abuse, and/or neglect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The race was held at Sims Park in downtown New Port Richy. LMW Attorneys and their friends and family joined over 900 others from all over the Tampa Bay area bright and early Saturday morning for the RAP River Run. Registration for the event began at 6 a.m. and the first race, the 5K, began at 7:30 a.m. followed by a “Fun Run” at 8:30 a.m.
After the race, everyone gathered around the DJ’s stage for the awards ceremony. LMW Attorney’s Pacers were excited to finish the RAP River Run team-race in 9th place with an average race time of 35 minutes.
The RAP River Run after-party was a huge success, as racers hung out at Sims Park until late into the afternoon. Local vendors from the Pasco area provided food and entertainment for the runners/walkers, even including massages!
LMW Attorneys sponsored a tent at the event where they handed out cookies and pens to race participants.
Over all the event was very successful and $120,000 was raised to help fund the Runaways Alternative Project House, which doubled last year’s fundraising efforts. The money raised will be used to help the RAP House provide runaway children and teens with food, shelter, life skills education, clothing and other services.
A huge thanks goes out to all of the runners and sponsors of the RAP Race.
Laporte, Mulligan & Werner-Watkins, Attorneys at Law are looking forward to being a part of the 2013 race!
